Happy Friday crafty friends. Today is our last day of favorite techniques! We hope you have enjoyed the week filled with ideas from our lovely designers. Today, Leah and I have two cards sharing our favorite techniques. We begin with Leah!

“Hello stamping friends! Today I have a favorite technique card to share with you. I have so many favorite techniques that it was hard to decide which one to show so I went with one I don’t use as much as some others which is heat embossing in white on kraft cardstock and coloring with Primsacolor pencils. I just love how colored pencils pop on kraft colored cardstock!

I decided to use the gorgeous new Butterflies stamp set as this was a perfect set to showcase this technique. I started by embossing my sentiment and then masked it off to add the butterflies.

I added some sequins to the middle of each butterfly and some twine to finish it off. I hope you enjoy this technique and will give it a try!

Yesterday, I was working on this card after a long day. Coloring always is my de-stressing. It calms me and let’s me work with my hands while my mind let’s go of what’s going on. I always believe this is my meditating. Well I went to my office to grab a watercolor brush and came across this card…

I was blown away by the fading that occurred in such a short amount of time, 3 weeks! So I wrote Tombow markers and did not receive a reply and still haven’t yet. I also went on Google and found many write ups that they do fade and there is nowhere that they say that their product is fade resistant. Sad smile Talk about bummed out! You can see photos here of tests that have been done. So I am writing this to you my friends, to let you know if you plan on your artwork to last, please do not use these pens. :/

(As a side note, this card was not placed in sunlight but on top of my cardstock in the back of the shelf which is very dark. In just 3 weeks, it has faded dramatically. You can barely see the blue and orange on the flowers.)

So….where do we go now?! I guess I will be using these pens for sketching and doodling. Moved from my favorite shelf to one that I will no longer be using for my artwork. Any suggestions? Maybe move onto more watercoloring, like today’s card using distress markers. I have no idea if distress markers fade. Do you?

Onto my favorite technique which is watercoloring using Antique Linen distress ink. Today I used Distress inks  Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Pine Needles, Mowed Lawn, Shabby shutters and also Tombow marker 755, 899 and 977.

I didn’t want too many layers so just added some ribbon from our Spring Ribbon Collection and also White Crochet Tape.

My sentiment is from our popular Mother’s Day Bouquet which I cut out using our Fancy Labels 3 die.

I hope that you have enjoyed this week’s favorite techniques. We have a special discount code coming out this weekend for our newsletter readers! It’s Scrapbook Day this weekend! Whoo Hoo! I will see you then! With paper hugs, Joanna
