Here’s today’s stamp set in full detail!
Flower of The Month: Pansy is a 4×4 size stamp set and will retail for $10.99. This extra large pansy measures 3 3/4” by 3”. I drew this flower bouquet for watercoloring & other types of coloring. It is so much fun sitting at the table coloring with this set and I just know you will find so much enjoyment as well. We also have a cut file too!
All our cut files are .99c on our website and coordinate perfectly with all our sets.
Now that you have seen our new set let’s get onto the inspiration from Jo, Kylie and myself!
I have a new passion and that is watercoloring. A few of you know this by being a follower of my blog. But now I am incorporating my drawings to help us color images more beautifully that will be fun and easy to create. How? By using the outline of the flower and also using dots or little lines for where we need to highlight or darken, as shown above. I hope that you find these images as easy to color as I do as I am a beginner too.
I began by stamping my image in Antique Linen distress ink. Any form of light ink will work also if you don’t have this stamp pad. You want the ink dark enough to still see yet light enough that when you paint over it the line will disappear. Play around with different colors of ink pads until you find one that suits your needs.
I used my new Winsor & Newton paints and combined Violet and Ultramarine Blue to create the colors. I am also using Burnt Sierra, Payne’s Grey, Olive Green and Permanent Sap Green. For a tutorial on how I paint, please check out Saturday’s post. For the fine lines, I used my distress markers in Antique Photo and Peeled Paint.
A few weeks ago, I shared my first iris painting using Tombow distress markers. This is my second framed image. You can see all the information about the Beautiful Iris frame here.
Here they are side by side. Now I only need one more to complete my 3 frame project!
Our next designer is Jo with a beautiful watercolored card. I adore her layers and the black is so striking with the purple. Here’s Jo with her card!
Hi All, welcome to release week I am very excited to have played with with the new stamp set Flower of the Month – Pansy.
Watercolouring has been my favourite technique to do with colouring flower images.
I like trying the no line colouring technique where I stamp using a very light water soluble ink like Antique Linen Distress Ink for the colouring I have used Peerless Transparent waterolours. The colours used are Olive Green, Grass Green, Marigold Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Amethyst, Mauve & Neutral Tint. To brush the colours on I have used an aqua painter brush which holds water when squeezed water distributes through the brush. This type of brush allows me to have more control of the water distribution on the water colour card stock.
For the sentiment I have used the Heartfelt Gratitude stamp set, this is one of my favourite go to Thank You stamp set as you have 18 sentiments to choose from. The ink used is Onyx Black ink for the sentiment as I love the crisp detail stamp image it leaves behind on all types of textured cardstock.
Inspired By Stamping has loads of awesome sentiments in their store don’t forget to drop on by and have a squizzy.
For the base card stock I have used a Naturals Confetti white along with Plum and Black card stock. I ran our of black linen thread so I used my black copic marker and coloured the twine myself.
For an added extra element I have created a pennant / flag on the top right with black card stock.
Hope you enjoyed this card creation happy paper crafting peeps 🙂 ~Jo
Now onto Kylie’s gorgeous card using vellum and white embossing powder! This card is just gorgeous! Take it away, Kylie!
“Exciting news for you IBS fans. The new release starts today and we kicking things off by showing you the first set of the release
Here is my card –
I love pansy’s and always have them in my garden.
I usually like to emboss when using flower stamps. I like the effect it gives and gives you a bit more control when colouring.
This time I have embossed in white powder onto vellum. Once the embossing is dry, I flip the vellum over and colour in everything with my Spectrum Noir markers.
I also embossed the sentiment with white powder. The white and the softness of the vellum is so pretty.
Once I finished my vellum panel, I was horrified that I hadn’t thought this through… I wasn’t sure how to attach my vellum onto my card without glue showing through. Glossy accents and some pearls to the rescue!!
I hope you are inspired by the team at Inspired by Stamping using the
