Today, Lisa has two beautiful projects using magnets! These are just fantastic and I am so inspired about the “Don’t forget” one that I am off to make one for myself right now! Take it away Lisa!
Hi Everyone! Lisa here with two home décor recycled projects.
I always feel bad peeling off and throwing away the advertising magnets that come on phone books. When the new books were delivered last month, a ‘light bulb’ went on and I decided to recycle the magnets and make my own refrigerator magnets.
For my first magnet I used the Basket of Flowers stamp set:
I used three images from the Basket of Flowers stamp set. First, I stamped the pretty basket image twice and used pencils to color. I fussy cut the floral bouquet, added a little sparkle, and popped it up on the full image. The Love sentiment was stamped, die-cut, and popped up. I stamped the sentiment directly on the card stock and lightly sponged around the entire square. The layers were attached to the magnet and it now adorns my fridge.
Here is my second magnet:
I started by die-cutting the magnet with a die from Fancy Labels 3 Dies. The die cut through the magnet like a hot knife through butter. I used the frame image from the Fancy Labels 3 stamp set and die cut it with the coordinating die. The Don’t Forget and Arrows are from the Pretty Planners stamp set.
This magnet could be used to hold an appointment card or invitation—anything you don’t want to forget. I chose to use it for something very important:
Yes, that’s right—the ‘honey-do’ list! Certainly not to be missed if it is on the front of the refrigerator! I used the Fancy Alphabet (one of my IBS favorites!) and Pretty Planners stamp sets for the ‘honey-do’ list. How fun!
I hope you enjoyed my refrigerator magnets and get some recycling ideas of your own the next time a new phone book gets delivered.
That’s it for me today. Don’t forget to leave a comment-there is awesome blog candy this week (the Basket of Flowers stamp set that I used on my first magnet is in the blog candy package!).
Until next time…
Next up is Donna with this great Valentine’s Day frame with lots of IBS goodies. What a fantastic idea! Here’s Donna!
Hi everyone! Donna here and today I am over at the Inspired by Stamping blog to show you a Valentine’s day framed piece to use for your home decor.
At one time I worked as a custom framer for Hobby Lobby. The year that I worked there I acquired some nice frames that were in the “discard” pile for a very reasonable price. The frame I used for this project was one of those discards so it was scratched up a little and in need of a little beautifying. Using Stazon ink and glitter embossing powder perked up the frame. I created a large heart and stamped it with many different stamped sentiments mounted on red shiny cardstock. It was fun to combine these different stamped sentiments into a heart design.
Stamps set used: “Hugs and Kisses” from the Vintage Tickets Set, “Love” from the Fancy Circles set, a tiny heart “I heart you” and “love you” from the Teeny Tiny Greetings set, “I Love You” “My Dear” and “with Love” from the All Year Wishes I set, “Love stamp” from the A Lovely Birthday set, “love:” from the Holiday Tags set, two larger hearts from the Build a Stocking set, and another “I love you” from the Creative Tags set. (I also could have used the “with love” and “hugs & kisses” and “xoxo” from that set but didn’t) I stamped the frame with a flourish from the Fancy Tags set.
We will be back on Sunday for our group post with our designers! Can’t wait to share what they have been up to the last few weeks! Have a great crafty weekend! With paper hugs, Joanna
