This weekend we are celebrating another birthday. My son, Brayden, turns 11 on Sunday! He loves pirates. He inspired me to create the Pirates stamp set last year and I was so excited to make him today’s card for his big day!
Today’s card is a 5×5 size, and extra large card for the slightly larger image of my pirates ship. I started with creating 2 layers, one in navy blue and the other again in white card stock. I then stitched around the edges in kraft colored thread to match my background images from the Background Basics IV stamp set.
I stamped my image on 3×4 white card stock using Navy blue ink. This image is from our Pirates stamp set. I then used some light blue and water colored my image.
To create my sun, I punched out a circle on a piece of scrap paper and placed the paper in the corner and daubed three different yellow inks. I kept going over the circle with my daubers until I created the desired color that I wanted with the sunshine. I then rolled the corner and added a orange brad to match the sunshine.
Here’s the inside of my card. I love the Birthday Greetings stamp set for these occasions! I also stamped this great pirates flag from the Pirates set and adhered it with a little piece of sticky tape.
I hope that you have enjoyed today’s card! We will be celebrating this weekend in Pirates style! Brownies and lasagna are on the dinner menu! It will be another fun filled weekend ahead!
A special thank you to Mynnette for creating with us! We hope you have a wonderful weekend and Valentine’s Day! We look forward to seeing you on Monday! With love, Joanna & the IBS team xoxo
