Today, we have a great tutorial by Leah. She’s sharing with us how to color on vellum using our Summer Flowers stamp set! Hugs, Joanna
Colored Vellum Flowers
by Leah Cornelis
Hello! Leah here to share with you a fun technique of making colored vellum flowers for your projects. Let’s get started!
The supplies you’ll need to do this technqiue are:
*Stamp set of choice. I’m using Summer Flowers.
*White embossing powder
*Various colors of ink
*Sheet of vellum paper
First, you will stamp your images onto your vellum paper and heat emboss them with white powder. After they have cooled choose your ink colors and color your image with a q-tip. Be careful to avoid covering the embossing. After you are done coloring lightly wipe over your image to remove any extra ink with a paper towel.
After your images are colored, trim them out and you are ready to make a project with them! Because of the transparent nature of vellum I recommend placing your images on a white background so your colors really pop. I tried placing other colors behind the colored vellum and I felt that they lost their effect. Because the vellum is colored to adhere them I used a quick drying liquid glue and foam adhesive. The coloring hides the adhesive so it’s much easier to attach the finished flowers to your project.
Here is my completed card using the vellum flowers. I also used the Inspired By Stamping sets, Hexagons, Everyday Tabs and Background Basics III. I hope you’ll give this technique a try! Can’t wait to see your beautiful creations. Have a blessed day!
